Making Life Easier

I am notorious for having innumerable cans/jars/canisters/bags of seasonings.

I oftentimes go grocery shopping and see a recipe I MUST prepare.  It will ask for seasonings I am SURE I don't have.  When I get home, I will find not only did I have the seasoning, but I will have 16 containers of it.  No joke.  My explanation for this when Steve pulled all the seasonings out to help me sort through them was, "Honey, the cabinet that we store these spices in is too tall for me."  It worked.  He went online and found these:

They are small canisters that have strong magnets on the back and stick to the refrigerator.  The labels didn't come with them, but if you get small address labels and print them off your computer, they work just fine.  Heck...you don't even need to print them if your writing is legible.  Mine isn't, hence me printing them off.

Steve ordered them from here:

For the one's I specifically have, scroll to the bottom of the page and choose item number:  10029398
They're fabulous!

The next issue I have is buying expensive seasonings.  I came across a recipe (see my first post!) that called for smoked paprika, coriander seeds and cumin seeds.  Granted, I could buy regular ol' paprika, coriander and cumin and achieve a delicious meal; I have no doubt of it.  And the recipes I post will always allow for that.  But I have OCD (undiagnosed, but I'm absolutely positive of it- I mean I don't knock three times on the stairway wall  before I walk down them, but I just know I've got somethin') and stick to the ingredients it asks for.  So back to the expensive seasonings:  I have found the answer!

You can buy seasonings in teeny tiny amounts.  I bought the smoked paprika, the coriander seeds and the cumin seeds I spoke of (a 1/2 ounce of each) for $3.85!  It beat buying them at the grocery store in larger containers for a total of $22.78 (believe me, I checked).  And I have quite a bit left of each of them for later recipes.

I know.  I know.  Not everyone lives in Denver, so here's their page to find them close to you:

I know.  I know.  Not everyone lives close to the cities they are located in, so here's a page where you can order seasonings online:

I know.  I know.  You didn't plan ahead to order online and you have no time to drive across town to buy these (specific) seasonings.  Just use what is at your grocer- you'll be fine.
